Tabarak Muslim Orphanage was established on February 4th, 2005 by women who had a vision of giving back to the community. Our target groups are all orphans regardless of cause, race, gender or tribe. We have walked a long journey in the service of being a guardian to the orphans as instructed by the Prophet Mohammed.
Tabarak was founded by Asha Ramadhan. Asha and her sister grew up with a lifestyle where they always had to question if they would have enough food and water for the day. They had to sacrifice their education for basic needs. She vowed that no child under her care would ever go through the struggle she went through and decided to start an orphanage.
She started by caring for 20 orphans in her one bedroom house. She made her money to support them by selling Chapatti on the streets. Moving around and trying to find a stable environment was challenging, however, Tabarak has settled into a permanent space that is becoming a home to many orphans. Now supporting nearly 50 children, having a stable environment is necessary. After past hardships bringing a slow to the success of Tabarak, Asha’s love and determination kept things going.
“We shared the little we had. We didn’t have much, but we were happy”, stated Asha during this hardship.
We also work with children through home-based care if their family is not able to support them. As well as our focus on the children, we also care for widowers in our surrounding community. We try our best to ensure that our community is a safe, secure, and welcoming place for everyone.
During the years, Tabarak has been through many struggles to truly test their determination. We are so happy to be where we are today and want to continue building our success.
Working with this orphanage has showed us how much love and care goes into the care of these children. It is so rewarding to support a community where you know that the projects will be utilized to best support these kids and their local community.
